The idea to offer “suspended classes'“ came from our mission to reach deeper into the community to bring people who might not otherwise have access, inside the studio.
Much like the “caffe sospeso” concept where a cup of coffee is paid for in advance to be given to someone else, anonymously prepaying for a Pilates class or two to be suspended for another person is a way of sharing the Pilates love. Legend has it that the coffee version of this began in Naples, Italy, in the early 1900s- right around the same time Joseph Pilates was teaching his method to injured soldiers and prisoners of war.
